QUITO - Raclette & Co

QUITO - Le début de la fin. Quito la capitale de l'Equateur représente plus ou moins le début de la fin de mon périple. Que je le veuille ou non, je dois bien reconnaitre que c'est ici que se termine mon voyage en Amérique du Sud, et que commence ma lente remontée vers la France, via le Costa Rica et New York. Et même si ce n'est pas de gaité de coeur que je quitte l'Amérique du Sud, un petit retour au Buisson ponctué par des visites chez mes amis Nano a San José et Stephane et James a New York n'est aps pour me déplaire non plus. Mais avant tout laissez-moi vous parler de Quito. Sans être la ville la plus sympatique dans laquelle nous nous sommes rendus avec JB, c'est un coin plutot sympa, avec une partie "Quito Colonial" qui regorge de batiments... coloniaux donc, d'églises assez grandioses et de palais avec petit patios intérieurs démontrants à eux tout seul que Quito fut un jour une grande capitale de l'empire Espagnole en Amérique.

QUITO - The beginning of the End. AllCapital of Ecuador Quito is more or less the final point of my south American trip... Wether I like it or not, I have to admit that it is from this city that I will leave South america and slowly get back to France via Costa rica and New York. Even though I'm not delighted at the idea of finishing my journey, this return to Le Buison, Veranne, France and the fact that I'm about to visit some good friends, Nano in San Jose and Stephane and James in New York is also something I'm looking forward to. But before this last bit of the trip, let me talk to you about Quito, a fairly nice city which without being the most wonderfull place we've been through JB and I, is packed with interesting places. The "Colonial Quito" has a lot to offer, from pretty nice churches to huge palaces with small patios, all this showing how big Quito was when it was one of the main cities of the Spanish American empire

Dans Quito il y aussi un grand quartier tout récent et tout beau (enfin... bof quand meme) qui s'appelle le "Quito Moderne", ou on trouve de tout, des McDo ou KFC (Kentuky Fried Chicken pour mes amis de Véranne...) tous les 100m, des centres commerciaux géants tous les 200m, et pleins de touristes de partout... Le seul intéret de ce quartier est le fait que c'est là bas que nousa vons trouvé un restaurant Suisse pour manger un raclette! Car oui a Quito nousa vons retrouvé Flavia, notre amie Suisse du Pérou, du Trek Santa Cruz a Huaraz. Et depuis ce trek nous nous étions promis de manger une raclette ensemble. Aujourd'hui c'est chose faite, comme vous le montre les photos ci-dessous!!! Le fromage était local mais quand même assez bon, et nous avons du demander pour un peu de charcuterie car visiblement les Suisses de Quito n'en mettent pas dans leur raclette... A part ca ce fut une très bonne soirée!

In Quito there is also a new and neat (well, not that neat but better than some other palces, let's say...) area called the "Modern Quito". There you've got everything you want, McDonald's and KFC every 100m, Malls every 200m and some tourists-backpackers everywhere... This "Modern Quito" was actually a great place for us one night because it's where we found a swiss restaurant in order to have a nice Raclette. Indeed in Quito we met again Flavia, our swiss friend with whom we did the Santa Cruz trek in Huaraz, Peru, and since then we had told eachothers that the last think we had to do was to eat a Raclette together. So we had this long awaited raclette, and even though the cheese was from Ecuador, and the fact that we had to ask for Ham because they don't use it in raclette in Swiss-like Ecuador, the meal was very good and filling (like a raclette has to be!) and we had a very nice night!

Aujourd'hui je me trouve a San José, chez mon pote Marianno (Nano) et même sans avoir passé deux mois au Costa Rica, Je trouve le coin très sympa, et je vous en parlerai bientôt... Grosse bises et a bientôt! (Toutes les photos de Quito sont ici)
