HUARAZ - L'Andinisme par excellence

HUARAZ - Où l'Andinisme rend l'Alpinisme un peu moins bien... Le Trek Santa Crux terminé, des étoiles plein la tête, de la neige en guise de blanc des yeux, des lagunes vertes-bleues pour faire l'iris, nous avons décidé de rester un peu a Huaraz, dans la Cordillera Blanca. En effet, il y a une principale raison pour laquelle beaucoup de gens restent assez longtemps dans cette ville, c'est l'ANDINISME! Et ca m'a bien eu aussi, pas moyen de partir de Huaraz, l'Andinisme m'avait eu... (Et pourtant ce n'est pas vraiment la ville de Huaraz qui attire... Elle a été quasi toute détruite en 1970 par un tremblement de terre, et depuis on dirait qu'elle est en constante reconstruction. Enfin bon...) Alors beaucoup d'entre vous, savoyard de m... de mon coeur, vont me dire que l'Andinisme n'est rien d'autre que de l'Alpinisme dans les Andes. Et ben je vous répondrait que oui! Finnalement ici on appelle Andinisme ce que les europpéens -et moi même- ont l'habitude d'appeler Alpinisme, c'est faire du sport dans les montagne. Mais bon excuser moi du peu, entre les deux la grosse différence c'est les montagnes en question... Les Andes ca donne quand même un coup de vieux au Alpes quoi... A part en ce qui concerne le ski (car ici pas de remonte-pente donc ca limite souvent la pratique du ski ou du sbowboard...) l'escalade, la randonnée, le vtt, etc... Tout est ici, et en tant que sale petit francais arrogant, j'ai été surpris par le niveau du matériel, des guides, etc.

HUARAZ - When Andinism is making Alpinism look old... After The wonderfull Santa Cruz Trek in the Cordilliera Blanca we stayed a little bit longer in Huaraz... A little more than what we excpected, but there is a reason for all that. Huaraz itself! Without being a wonderfully beautifull city (The city was almost entirely destroyed by an earthquake in 1970 and it thus lost some of its finesest building), Huaraz is positionned in the middle of an amazing area: The Cordillera Blanca. So you will tell me, there is mountains around the city, and this is nice. And I will answer you that those bloody Peruvians (copying what was happening in the Alps a little) found an amazing way to use those mountains, the created ANDINISM. It is quiet funny how we in europe usually say that whenever we go and practise some sport in the mountains we do some Alpinism. Here they say Andinism, because we are in the Andes... Normal. So the Andinism in Huaraz is amazing. It does look like Alpinism, it consists of doing lots of sports in the mountains, but since the Andes are way higher than the Alps, everything is better... Except for ski and snowboard (they don't have skilifts here so it's rather limited...) the do everything to a higher level here... And something that surprised the pretentious French guy that I am, the quality of the material, guides and general knowledge of the mountains is also really really good. So we decided to enjoy all this... And it was good!

Donc nous avons passé un peu de temps a Huaraz... Au début on voulait tout faire, excalade, ski, faire un 6000m... Mais bon on s'est vite rendu compte après quelques discussions avec des guides que la saisopn n'était pas bonnes pour skiier et grimper trop haut en altitude... Encore un peu trop de neige...(genre 4m au sommet) Donc finalement, on a fait 2 jours d'escalade. Le premier, j'ai montré a JB et Flavia notre amie Suise comment grimper et sécuriser quelqu'un qui grimpe sur roche, ce fut très sympa (surtout quand je me suis rendu compte qu'il y avait au moins 12 spots de grimpe autour de Huaraz...). Et puis alors le 2ème jour, nous avons été rejoint par Bret un ami Australien et nous avons refait de l'escalade mais sur glace cette fois-ci... Et ouais on trouvait ca plus sympa de changer, donc on a pris un guide, un taxi et on est allé sur le volcan Pastoruri a 5200m (toujours un peu plus que les Alpes je vous dis!). Là on a passé une superbe journée, avec plein de bons moments: 2 petites paroies pour commencer, ca fait mal au bras et c'est plus technique que ce que je pensais...Ensuite on se met en cordée et on va marcher un peu sur le glacier pour trouver une autre belle paroie. La on accroche un corde dans la glace avec Lucho notre guide, et on descend en rappel avant de tenter de remonter... Ce fut très dur. Mais on était vraiment content de notre journée.

First we did some rock clibing with JB and Flavia. I discovered a local map with lots of spots where climbers can enjoy the mountain. That made me happy! I also enjoyed teaching them how to belay and climb since they were debutants. Fun times! The day after we went for some more fun the 3 of us with Bret an Australian friend. We went climbing again, but for going a bit more original, we went climbing on Ice, on the huge glacier Pastoruri a 5200m (when I was telling you that it was always slitly better than the Alps...). It was a great day, where I realized that ice climbing is way more technical than what I thaught, and where we all came back exhausted and happy. Fun Times again!!! Huaraz was an amazing experience, and I'm quiet happy to announce you that I will go back there some time in my life because there is sooooo much to do! You´re all more than welcome to join me! There should be some Cross country skiing and climbing a 6000m on the program...

Aprés toutes ces aventures nous avons du nous résigner a quitter Huaraz car il y a quand même encore beaucoup a voir entre Lima et Quito, et donc il y aura pas mal de nouvelles sur ce blog... Donc a bientot!!! PS: Toutes les photos des journées d'escalade sont ici.
